All of them can be devasting to your health. In sheer numbers, though, nothing comes close to peripheral neuropathy, which affects over 20 million people in the United States. The good news is that you can fight back against your neuropathy naturally.

Did you know that peripheral neuropathy is the number one neurological condition in the USA? Peripheral neuropathy is nerve damage that occurs primarily in the extremities (legs, feet, arms, and hands) of the body. Just for comparison, those dealing with the devastating disease of dementia (which includes Alzheimer’s disease) only affects around 6 million people in the USA.

As the numbers of peripheral neuropathy continue to skyrocket, it’s no surprise the number of medical prescriptions given for neuropathy continues to rise. Medications are not a cure. They are designed to help alleviate the symptoms associated with the damaged nerves. The most common drugs prescribed for peripheral neuropathy are given as an off-label use. They were initially FDA approved for other conditions. The most common medications prescribed are anti-convulsants (anti-epileptic), anti-depressants, and narcotics (opioids).

There are over 100 causes of neuropathy. One-third of all neuropathies are caused by diabetes. Another third of neuropathy sufferers are from idiopathic (unknown) causes. The last third of neuropathy victims are from the other 99+ causes. That is what is so difficult. Everyone wants to know what caused their neuropathy and two-thirds of the time it is either from an unknown cause or from many possibilities.

Regardless of the cause, neuropathy can wreak havoc on you and go from annoying to excruciating very quickly. Neuropathy is a progressive degenerative condition. That is why, even with medications, over time it will continue to worsen.

When the sensory nerves become damaged, it causes one or more of the following: numbness, tingling, burning, electric shocks, hot, or cold sensations.

If you look up neuropathy on the internet you will repeatedly read that there is not much that can be done. At most, the goal has always been to manage the symptoms. That is until now. My neuropathy treatment approach doesn’t use medications at all. With the right exam and the right treatment approach, not only can the progression of peripheral neuropathy be stopped – it can also be reversed. I work with a group of doctors, across the country, who are dedicated to naturally fighting and reversing the damaging effects of neuropathy. This is done by using a multi-pronged treatment plan aimed at reducing body inflammation, improving peripheral blood flow, increasing nitric oxide, and re-educating the nerves to start functioning correctly.

The reason peripheral neuropathy is a big deal is because it affects so many lives. Twenty million people in the US alone struggle with neuropathy symptoms, which is why it is the number one neurological condition in the USA. This does not even include those who haven’t been diagnosed yet. If you have symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, I hope you utilize a full treatment approach and get the relief you need. It’s time to fight back against your neuropathy.
