Pappagallo – Focusing on fall

by Nicki Smith

It is another scorcher outside today, but I have cranked my air conditioner down as I am unpacking new fall fashions. In anticipation of cool, crisp days to come, I want to share with you the styles to add to your wardrobe in the upcoming months.

Classy Classics

It is time to return to the classics – tailored separates, cardigans and blazers abound. Herringbone, glen plaid and hounds tooth look rich for fall. Think Savile Row tailoring.

Animal Prints

I know… again? If you have resisted animal prints in the past, this may be the year to take a walk on the wild side. It is bold, and sometimes unexpected mixed with other prints. Besides leopard, designers paraded out bold tiger stripes and white snow leopard patterns.

Red Hot

The color red for fall is not a new trend, but think monochromatic looks to make a statement. Red also looks great mixed with animal prints. Prepare to be noticed.

Mad for Plaid

From plaid dresses to blazers and pants, plaid abounds for the upcoming season. Look for different plaids mixed together and even paired with (you guessed it!) animal prints.

Ruching

Ruching is the gathering of a strip of fabric that creates a ripple effect. The technique has been around since the 80s. It has been back in vogue recently. With proper placement, this detail is figure flattering.

Fifty Shades of Gray

This look translates best head to toe in varying tones in power suits, dyed furs and cabled knits.

Flower Power

Florals continue to bloom into fall. Deeper darker blooms are predominant. Delicate petals to bold bouquets , some are hand-painted or appliquéd – grow your garden for fall.

Collar Fuzz

Faux or fox, fur collars stole the show on the runways. Fur trim makes a statement on coats, cardigans, blazers and collars.

Olive Green

Green is another strong color for the up coming season. Look for green to emerge in jeans and many plaids.

Fall 2018 is going to be a return to classics such as tailored separates in plaids and animal prints. It’s time to be rebuild your wardrobe with beautiful quality clothing. Stop in soon to Pappagallo and take a look.
