What children go through can get messy. Kentucky ranks 5th in the number of child abuse substations. Family Enrichment Center can help. It’s time to run, walk, crawl and wade your way through three miles of muddy obstacles to support the HENKEL Mud Happens, One Bad Mud Run, presented by U.S. Bank to benefit the Family Enrichment Center!
Our mission at Family Enrichment Center is to empower families and prevent child abuse. Being a grassroots agency, fundraising events like Mud Happens are critical to providing critical support programs. Last year, we served over 2,500 children and parents from this area! All of FEC’s programs and services are offered at no cost or very affordable for families and include Nurturing Parenting Classes, Parent Support Groups, Parents as Teachers (Little Learners Program), Supervised Visitation Services, domestic violence victim support & education, as well as income-based childcare and free respite care through our Wee Care Childcare Center. Our goal is to promote healthy family functioning, increase public awareness, and provide knowledge and sensitivity surrounding child abuse so we can help families be the best they can be.
You can help make childhood less messy for children in South Central Kentucky by supporting the Family Enrichment Center at the 14th Annual Henkel Mud Happens presented by U.S. Bank on August 29, 2026 at Phil Moore Park. The morning kicks off with some good old-fashioned competition with our timed heat at 8am and is followed by our non-competitive heats starting at 8:15am and every 15 minutes after until 10:30am. You can join the muddy fun as a participant, volunteer, sponsor or spectator! Early Bird pricing is in effect through July 4th and starts at $45 with discounts for groups of four or more. Registration can be completed online or through a printable form at www.fecbg.com/mudhappens.
Family Enrichment Center is supported by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Kappa Deltas, Kentucky Bar Foundation, Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, United Way of Southern Kentucky, WHAS Crusade for Children, Kosair for Kids, and local contributions.
