SKYCTC Practical Nursing Program achieves Southeastern U.S. Top 6 ranking

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College’s (SKYCTC) Practical Nursing Program has been ranked among the best nursing schools in the nation for 2021 by NursingProcess.org

SKYCTC is ranked #6 out of 731 nursing schools in the Southeast Region of the United States. NursingProcess.org scores each college based on NCLEX-PN pass rates as well as on academic quality, the nursing school’s reputation and affordability.

SKYCTC’s Nursing Program delivers an experience that thoroughly prepares students for both the required licensure examination and employment opportunities. SKYCTC’s current National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) first-time pass rate ranges from 95% to 100%. The program also boasts other impressive statistics, including being one of the largest producers of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) in the southeastern region of Kentucky, with a 100% employment rate for graduates. In addition, the cost of a Nursing degree at SKYCTC is the lowest in the region.

“I am grateful that outside agencies have recognized the hard work and dedication of the students, faculty and staff in SKYCTC’s LPN program. Our goal is to produce as many high-quality nurses as possible for South Central Kentucky, especially during our current nursing shortage. In addition to the quality our students consistently display, we were one of the first schools in the state to transition our LPN program from 18 months to 11 months,” said Dr. Angie Harlan, Dean of Allied Health and Nursing at SKYCTC. “We are also very proud that, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, 88% of Associate degree earners at SKYCTC, regardless of discipline, are employed within a year after graduation. Most of those graduates are employed right here in Kentucky.”
