The holiday season is approaching fast and there are lots of ways to stay safe and still have fun in Franklin, Ky.!


What puts you in the holiday spirit more than shopping?

Franklin has extended its annual Christmas Open House to a three-day event to give shoppers the opportunity to shop in a less crowded environment this holiday season. The Franklin Downtown Merchants Association will host the Christmas Open House on Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10am until 5pm and Sunday, Nov. 15 from noon until 5pm. Shop in the heart of Franklin on the downtown square to find local art, boutique clothing, jewelry, handmade items, unique gifts, home decor, floral arrangements for holiday celebrations and much more. Special sales and giveaways will be part of this annual fun-filled sales event! Santa will be downtown visiting shoppers on Saturday, Nov. 14!

By shopping in Franklin, you may just have the chance to win back some of what you spend!
The Franklin-Simpson Chamber of Commerce has extended the traditional Small Business Saturday this year from Saturday, Nov. 28 to Saturday, Dec. 5. For every $20 spent at a participating Chamber merchant business during that week, shoppers can register for a drawing for two $250, two $150 and two $100 Chamber of Commerce gift certificates that will be given away. Winners will be posted on the Chamber of Commerce website at http://www.f-schamber.com.  A live drawing for the winners will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10 on WFKN radio 1220 AM.

All shoppers are asked to please wear masks while shopping in Franklin and remember to be observant of their safety and the safety of others.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

The Franklin-Simpson Renaissance will light the downtown square in white lights for the Christmas season and welcome Santa on Dec. 5 from 10am until noon. A socially distanced visit with Saint Nick will be held on the northeast corner of the courthouse lawn. Although children can’t sit in Santa’s lap, they can bring him letters and have a chance to talk to him from a safe distance. Shops will be open and some food vendors will be set up downtown. Santa’s mailbox will remain downtown throughout the season for letter drop-off!

It’s A Bicentennial Christmas Parade!

The Kiwanis Club of Franklin-Simpson will host the 2020 Christmas Parade later that day at the Jim Roberts Community Park from 1pm-2:30pm. The theme for this year’s parade is “It’s A Bicentennial Christmas.” The drive-thru parade will feature stationary floats and parade entries. Spectators will drive through the parade route.

200 Miles for 200 Years

In celebration of Franklin’s 200th birthday, a 200-mile run from Frankfort to Franklin will be held on Nov. 20. City of Franklin and state officials will gather on the steps of the Capitol in Frankfort where a proclamation will be read honoring the City of Franklin and the Bicentennial celebration.

The proclamation will be placed in a baton and handed off to make a journey 200 miles to Franklin. This relay journey will be conducted by over 100 individuals running a portion of the route from Frankfort to Franklin. The 200-mile route from Frankfort to Franklin will take teams and runners through Frankfort, Versailles, Lawrenceburg, Harrodsburg, Perryville, Springfield, Bardstown, Hodgenville, Munfordville, Cave City and Bowling Green until the last runners reach the historic Courthouse in downtown Franklin. The 200-mile Relay Run will be run continuously from Friday morning through the night, and conclude on Saturday, Nov. 21 at approximately 4:30 p.m. in Franklin.
