SKyPAC presents – Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

submitted by Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center

Dozens of area students are being honored at SKyPAC as part of the 95th Annual Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for teenaged artists and writers in the United States. For more than nine decades, these awards have encouraged young artists and writers to pursue a variety of creative career paths and endeavors. Previous winners include Andy Warhol, Stephen King, Lena Dunham, Ken Burns, and Zac Posen.

Submissions from teens in grades 7 through 12 are juried by a professional panel for demonstration of originality, technical skill, and personal voice. SKyPAC is proud to be the regional affiliate for 23 Kentucky counties and is currently exhibiting more than 100 Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention works. The exhibition opened on February 1 and runs through the end of March in the Wedge Children’s Gallery at SKyPAC.

Special congratulations are offered to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards South Central Kentucky American Voices award winners below! The American Voices nominees are “Best in Show” awards and are the highest regional honors presented by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, exemplifying originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
