The TV time machine

I suspect there are few of us who have not, at some point, wondered if time travel is possible. If you are a science fiction fan, as I am, you have certainly watched a show or two that featured the phenomenon and had your mind bent by the “don’t mess up the timeline” concerns of those traveling through the years.

American Bank & Trust, 25 years of banking that fits you.

I have been doing some time travel in the past few months and it has been a total treat without having to worry about damaging the timeline or fracturing the future. My time travel has been on our various streaming services.

Many of you reading this have no idea how awful it was years ago to have to wait a week to see the next installment in how TV show characters dealt with an issue. Or, God forbid, having to wait until next year to see how a season-ending cliffhanger was concluded. Remember who shot JR?

Now days you can see a whole season of a desired show in a day or two… watching episode after episode. Or enjoy the entire run of a popular serial in days or weeks… depending on how much time you have to spend in front of a screen… lovingly called “binging.”

Don't miss the 16th annual Cruising For A Cure to benefit Alzheimer's, Hospice of Southern Kentucky and Juvenile Diabetes Research sponsored by J. C. Kirby & Son.

I say all this to say that I stumbled across a couple of old favorites the other day on one of our streaming services and, because Twila and I are blessed enough to have a large screen in our office and both enjoy background noise, we were able to watch the shows from pilot to conclusion. Seeing the old cars and clothes, observing the proper language and bad habits was almost as much fun as revisiting the great characters who became our friends over several seasons.

So, whether you miss Richie, Fonzie and the gang, or hanker for a few more minutes with Bo and Luke or Ponch and Jon (if you are young… Google it!) feel free to do a little TV Time Traveling on your favorite streaming service with no worry of damaging the future. Just watch out for aliens like Mork or My Favorite Martian… you never know what time they are from or what mischief they will create!
