Glasgow boutique celebrates reopening in historic downtown building – Off The Square Mercantile

Off The Square opened in the fall of 2020, selling carefully curated gifts in a small space off the downtown square in Glasgow. In 2021, owners Julie Goodman Dickinson and Lisa Spear Richardson made the decision to move to a larger space and expand their business to include gifts for all ages, sustainable goods (including a refill station), safe/chemical-free personal care products, versatile women’s fashion and home decor. In the fall of 2022, they were approached with the opportunity to move yet again, this time into the Old Richardson Place building at 111 East Washington Street, that was being renovated by Tim and Dana Gooden. Here they found their home. Built in 1908, the building first housed Barren County Grocery and Hardware, and later Richardson Hardware. Old Richardson Place was renovated to preserve as much of the history of the building as possible, including the original hardwood floors, beautiful brick walls and various touches from the old hardware store.

Off The Square Mercantile featuring gifts for all ages, sustainable goods (including a refill station), safe/chemical-free personal care products, versatile women’s fashion and home decor.

Despite a few building delays, Off The Square reopened earlier this summer. While still staying true to their core products and striving to provide top-tier customer service, they have expanded their home decor offerings to include quality, yet affordable furniture pieces.

Open Monday thru Saturday, the friendly staff would love to assist you in finding the perfect gift, setting up a bridal or baby registry, or picking out the perfect items to spruce up your home. Stop in and appreciate the history of the building, have a cup of coffee, and browse. The girls love to chat and would welcome the opportunity to make you feel right at home at Off The Square.
