Far Off Broadway Players is back for a new season!

Soon the temperatures will be dropping, the leaves will be changing and pumpkins will be popping up everywhere. Usually, the Far Off Broadway Players would be planning their annual Halloween production, but this year it was decided to present a comedy instead! That’s why September 17, 18 and 19 you’ll have a chance to laugh, laugh and laugh some more, with the hilarious romantic comedy, “Four Weddings and an Elvis!” If you haven’t reserved your seats, you can do so by visiting www.historicplaza.com or by calling 270-361-2101. The play does contain some adult language and situations, so we are recommending the show for ages 17 and older.

In late November, the weekend after Thanksgiving actually, you can kick off your Christmas holiday by experiencing, “Miracle on 34th Street” at the Plaza Theatre! The play is based on the 20th Century Fox motion picture, written by the Mountain Community Theatre. If you like the classic movie, you’ll absolutely love this play! Tickets are available now for “Miracle on 34th Street” on November 26, 27 and 28 at the Plaza Theatre.

In normal years, the Far Off Broadway Players produce five shows. Because of the pandemic, 2021 was an abbreviated schedule with two plays. However, that will change in 2022! The first show for 2022 will be the hugely popular, “Church Basement Ladies!” A celebration of the church basement kitchen and the women who work there, “Church Basement Ladies” is a musical comedy featuring four distinct characters and their relationships as they organize the food and solve the problems of a rural Minnesota church about to undergo changes in 1965. From the elderly matriarch of the kitchen to the young bride-to-be learning the proper order of things, we see them handle a record-breaking Christmas dinner, the funeral of a dear friend, a Hawaiian Easter fundraiser and a steaming hot July wedding. They stave off potential disasters, share and debate recipes, instruct the young and keep the Pastor on course while thoroughly enjoying, (and tolerating) each other as the true “steel magnolias” of the church. Funny and down to earth, audiences will recognize these ladies as they witness the church year unfold from below the house of God. “Church Basement Ladies” will hit the Plaza Theatre stage March 11, 12 and 13, 2022 but auditions are this month! If you are an adult woman or man, can sing, and if you’ve always wanted to audition for a Far Off Broadway Players show, then perhaps this one is for you! Auditions will be September 28 and 29 at the Plaza Theatre and you will have to sign up for a specific audition time. Please visit www.faroffbroadwayplayers.com for information about the audition.
