It’s a horse’s world

Rainhill had very special visitors in June. The youth group from the Bowling Green Cumberland Presbyterian Church arrived with fence paint, brushes, rollers and a wonderful. “We’re ready to work” attitude. What a blessing for us and our fences that were longing for fresh paint!

We had purchased a new paint sprayer and paint last month but somehow, with all the other daily chores, we never quite got around to the actual painting. It was amazing to see these caring folks show up in the 90-degree heat with big smiles, all to help our precious horses.

The fences look beautiful! We are so proud and thankful to this caring group for honoring us with their hard work and loving spirits.

Besides having newly painted fences, we also have green and growing pastures. Lately, it has rained every day, sometimes several times a day. The mud can be messy but a drought is devastating, especially for farmers with crops and livestock. And so I don’t complain and always say, “Mud is better than dust.”

We still have horses in need of sponsors. For $25 a month you can help us care for one of our beautiful horses. We currently have 49 horses. One of oldest mares passed away last week. It was unexpected and caught us by surprise. She was one of our oldest horses, probably almost 30 years old. She didn’t eat her dinner one evening but instead went out in her paddock to lay down. She passed away sometime during the night. We had her for fourteen years and we will miss her big voice and gentle nature.

I do so appreciate everyone who helps us in big ways and small. Your faith in our mission is greatly appreciated and we are honored by your help. If you are touched by our work, please help by donating any amount. The price of grain seems to go up weekly and it really puts a strain on our budget. Bless you all for caring!
