Mellow Mushroom relieves monotony of home

During these strange times, it can be difficult to keep up a normal daily lifestyle when we’re all cooped up at home. Gym at home, school at home, work from home, and every meal at home… it can get monotonous pretty quickly. Most restaurants are still open for takeout and many will deliver to your house without you ever needing to put on actual pants. What many people don’t realize is that there are an increasing number of restaurants that are offering take-home booze. For those of us looking for a nice, adult drink after hanging out with the kids from sunrise to bedtime after having to relearn long division and googling what a gerund is, this can be a life saver. (Don’t act like you didn’t just look up “gerund”.)

Mellow Mushroom is offering not only bottles, cans, and growlers, but also wines to-go. The wine list is available online and is only for full-sized bottles, but prices range from $10 to $20, and flavors range from sweet reisling to a dry cabernet. If you have any questions before you get there for pickup, you’re encouraged to call the store ahead of time and get the full list of available wines and an employee should also be able to help you figure out something for you if you have any questions.

For the bottles and cans, there is a list available online to check out, but guests are encouraged to call in beforehand to double check the availability and have any questions answered. Of course, one could make the argument that they could also still get beer at the grocery store in the same trip as getting the groceries, but for anyone who has been to Mellow Mushroom Bowling Green before, you know their beer list far surpasses what you’ll find at any regular selection store. I mean the Mellow Mush has got your IPAs, your sours, your dunkels, your lagers, your stouts. They’re offering individual cans and bottles for sale between $2.50 and $4 per item, and if you buy five of a beer, you’ll get the full six-pack rounded out for you for the price of the five. For example, if you were in the mood for a 3 Floyds Zombie Dust, you could always drive over and get a single for $5 but if you get a full six-pack, it’s only $24.99. That sounds like a free beer to me. The $2.50 beers are mostly your domestics but the $4 and $5 beers are where the good stuff is. For $4 one could get anything from a Rogue Dead Guy to a Purple Haze to a Cougar Bait. The $5 beers currently consist of KY Bourbon Barrel Ale, Ya Damn Skippy, and The Waldo’s Special. The styles range across the board, but like I mentioned before, the employees are very knowledgeable if you have any questions about the current selection.

Picture this: it’s Monday afternoon and you need an idea for dinner. Mellow Mushroom is offering their $10 Large 1-Topping Pizza Special. Ten dollars? You get two. You show up to grab your pies, and remember there’s no beer at the house. You see the huge beer list posted up on the window. You didn’t bring enough cash for the food AND THE TIP and also a six-pack, but you do have enough on you to add a couple of Country Boy Hazelnut Stouts to perfectly round out the meal for when you get home. Whatever you decide to do, let’s all be safe out there and support your favorite local restaurants so we can all get back to normal as smoothly as possible. If this is still all going on when you read this, I ask you to follow the #greatamericantakeout on Twitter, Instagram, and other social media sites to show your support and learn about all kinds of specials and sweepstakes.
