Van Meter Auditorium, Bowling Green, KY

November 20-22, 2026

Friday and Saturday, 7:30pm

Sunday Matinee, 2:00pm

The Western Kentucky University’s Department of Theatre and Dance, proudly presents WinterDance: TOYLAND, highlighting the WKU Dance Company, who will bring amusement and excitement to the Van Meter Auditorium stage. These dancers will transform into your favorite toys and come to life onstage. This hour-long family-friendly concert will enthrall audiences with ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance choreography in an energetic concert.

The WKU Dance Program presents Winterdance: Toyland!

WinterDance: TOYLAND magically transports the audience to a place where toys are built and come alive, sparked by the elves in their workshop. When left alone, toy soldiers break out into a jazz and tap-dancing frenzy, playful ragdolls tumble and roll in snow-filled adventures, and Swanhilda gracefully explores the workshop with her friends. More happy chaos ensues as goofy marionette dolls get cut from their strings, three Fairy Doll’s comedically fight for their rose, and children launch across the stage for presents on the morning of December 25th. These and more character stories showcase the personalities of mischievous toys that are guaranteed to make anyone smile!

With over 30 pre-professional dancers, a narrated and engaging storyline, and several student- and faculty-developed scenic elements, WinterDance: TOYLAND has something for everyone. With original concept developed by Meghen Mckinley and Kylene Stephens, faculty Director Anna Patsfall has worked with Professor Amanda Clark, Associate Professor Meghen McKinley, and Adjunct Instructors Amanda Poitras and Roberto Sifontes, to create a fun concert for all family members. This artistic and athletic concert gives audiences the opportunity to reminisce about some of their favorite childhood toys and see their magic come to life once again through the beautiful work of the WKU Dance Company.
