Looking for the perfect gift for someone special? Or a treat for yourself? Riverview at Hobson Grove Historic House Museum is your one-stop shop! Join us Wednesday, December 2, 10am-6pm for our Christmas Marketplace. Browse a selection of clothing, jewelry, home décor, bath and body products, and seasonal arrangements offered by vendors stationed throughout the historic home. Don’t forget to check out Riverview’s gift shop and bake sale in the basement. In addition to many of our regular vendors, two local authors will be signing books. George Anna McKenzie, a descendant of the Hobson family, will have copies of her cookbook, Company’s Comin, and Amy Disparte, author of A Star in Each Flag, will be on hand with copies of her fascinating Civil War novel. Both books are available for purchase on the day of the event. Admission is free, but we appreciate donations to help maintain this beautiful historic mansion. Please note that all vendor spaces are full.
The last event of our 2026 tour season is also our favorite! Riverview’s Candlelight Tour is Saturday, December 12, 4:30pm-7:30pm. Our costumed docents will make you feel as though you have been transported to a 19th century Christmas celebration. As you move through the old Hobson House, beautifully lit by candles and antique lamps, you may even be inspired to incorporate some of our traditional Victorian decorations in your own home. Our gift shop will be open, and refreshments will be served in our meeting room. Parking will be available at the ball field, and the Bowling Green Trolley will shuttle visitors to the mansion. Donations appreciated. Please understand that we have limited capacity, and to limit stress on the historic structure, there may be a wait for your party to enter.
There is still time to take advantage of our regularly scheduled tours before we close for the winter. Tours are given at the top of the hour, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-3pm and Sunday, 1pm-3pm. Our museum will close after the Candlelight Tour on December 12, reopening Tuesday, March 2, 2027.
