Help Riverview at Hobson Grove celebrate 50 years

Saturday, October 15, 10am-4pm; Sunday, October 16, 2pm-4pm

Marking a milestone anniversary always calls for a big celebration, and we want you to be part of the festivities!  This October, Riverview at Hobson Grove will mark its 50th anniversary as Bowling Green’s only historic house museum. During the weekend of October 15-16, we will have a free open house for the public. Tour guides will be stationed throughout the house to answer your questions Saturday, 10am-4pm and Sunday, 2pm-4pm. After viewing the beautifully restored mansion, enjoy refreshments in our meeting room.

It is our great honor to continue the work started by our first board of determined Bowling Green citizens when they began restoration efforts in 1966, and the museum is in top form for its Golden Anniversary. With the ongoing involvement of the Hobson family descendants, the support of the City of Bowling Green, and the expertise of restoration artisans, we are so proud to share the old Hobson House with you today. Over the years, Riverview has been fortunate to have many original pieces come back to the museum through the family’s generosity. Our newly restored plaster parlor ceilings and walls are complimented by the restored wood graining in these two living areas. Let us tell you the story of the modern techniques our restoration experts used to recreate the Hobson family’s 1872 parlor designs. We are also in the process of restoring the historic windows throughout the house and ironwork on the home’s exterior.

Riverview at Hobson Grove’s staff and volunteers are so proud to share this historic gem with visitors from all over the world and from our own backyard. If it has been a while since your last visit or if you have never made the trip to our museum, please make plans to join us for this weekend of free admission.
