DRA Truist Concert in the Park

In what has become an annual rite of summer, “The District,” the Downtown Redevelopment Authority, is back with the annual Concert in the Park music series. As the community exhales from the COVID-19 pandemic and devastating December tornadoes, we invite you to come out and enjoy some fresh air, music, food vendors and fun as we share in community.

For more than 40 years, the DRA has originated the free music concert series from late June through early September. Thousands of people from across the region and visitors to downtown Bowling Green turn out for the free music event in historic Circus Square Park.

The Downtown Redevelopment Authority began as a merchant’s organization contributing to the early efforts to revitalize, expand and breathe new life into the downtown Bowling Green area. Incorporated in 1986 as a 501C3 non-profit, “The District” continues to play a vital role in Economic Development, Historic Preservation and the annual summer music concert series. The DRA secures individual and business sponsorships to fund the series. The city of Bowling Green, its elected officials, and the Parks and Recreation Department provide use of Circus Square Park.  Lindsey Production Group, principal Tony Lindsey and David Dorris, ready the sound, lighting and production for the concert stage. Meanwhile food vendors dot the perimeter of the park as concert goers fill the historic venue.

As awareness, support and attendance grows, the DRA is working to secure additional sponsorship of the series to expand the reach of musical talent and to ensure the vitality and future of this free community event.

The 2022 DRA Truist Concert in the Park series kicks off Friday, June 24th with the music group DiZZorderly Conduct at 7pm CT. Food vendors are available at 6pm CT. July and August bring a mix of audience favorites and newcomers to the stage. The series wraps up on Friday, September 9th with the soulful renderings of the ever-popular Tyrone Dunn and Kin-Foke. In the event of inclement weather, the concert moves across the street under roof to the SOKY Marketplace.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab a blanket and your favorite lawn chair and head out to Circus Square Park this summer. No reservations required.
