Choose your wedding photographer carefully – Your Wedding Story

You most likely have done a great deal of research on many of your wedding choices… venue, caterer, decorations, dresses and more. You should put at least the same amount of effort into choosing a photographer that fits your needs and personality.

There are many photographers and most of them can provide a selection of acceptable pictures of your special day. However, if you want images that provide insight into the emotions and events of the day it is important to choose a photographer who fits your desires and personality.

What might be as important as the questions you ask the photographer are the questions he/she asks you. When we are preparing for a wedding we first insist on a meeting with the couple… not just the bride. We want to get a feel for their personalities and see if we feel we will be a good match for them. I know this might sound like over-kill but we are blessed to shoot weddings only because we want to… not because we need to. So, if the couple’s personalities are not a good match for us… if their wedding story is not interesting to us… we generally will not be interested in the project. So, if you talk to a photographer and their only question is when and how much… they might not be your best choice. On the other hand, if you just want some OK, relatively normal pictures then you might be dead on with such a choice.

Some things you want to be sure of… is the photographer experienced enough to deliver the images you desire. Will they be able to capture everything you want? Most photographers are “one-man-bands” which limits how many places they can be before, during and after the service. We always have at least two photographers along with at least one fixed, remote controlled still camera and one or two video cameras. We also offer the option of including images taken by your friends and family into the official wedding collection.

There are no licenses or official requirements to claim being a professional photographer. Anybody with money for a decent camera and some business cards can start a photography business. We have nearly 100 years of photography experience including many years of professional media work. We have been under pressure to get the shot. We know what it is like to have to make split-second decisions to deliver the story and we can do that. We also understand how to combine experience, skill and technology to tell your wedding story.

So, when it comes time to choose a photographer for your amazing day put in the time and choose a good match for you and you will get images that will entertain you for a lifetime. If we can help please go to our contact page and shoot us a note and let’s see if we are a great match.
