If you’re new to downtown Bowling Green, looking for something fun and free to do as you explore the area, or would like to know more about movies at the Capitol, here are a few facts to help you plan a great experience:
- Tickets are not required; it costs nothing to attend!
- Reasonably-priced concessions are available for purchase.
- Because we operate under the library’s public performance license, we can only broadcast movie titles in house or on our website. Bookmark capitolbg.org/movies for a complete list of titles.
- Movies are typically scheduled several times a week, and we are working toward making Wednesdays a consistent movie night.
- Closed-captioned movies are shown the first Monday of each month at 2pm and 6:30pm.
- We occasionally partner with local organizations and businesses to co-host movie events and documentary screenings.
- Intermittently, we host movie marathons and show back-to-back movies with a similar theme.

Two additional events this month will rock the Capitol stage, the first a free Capitol/WCPL hosted back-to-school concert and the second a ticketed community fundraiser.
Teen and college students will be treated to a night of great local music at the FREE The Library Rocks concert Saturday, September 13, starting at 6:30pm. Back for its third consecutive year, this event will welcome teenagers and WKU/SKYCTC students back to school with a night of music and community. Attendees are invited to fly their freak flag, find their people, and discover what might become their new favorite local band! The evening will feature live music by Fourwheeler, Splendour, and Cosmic Doom.
Saturday, September 20, at 7 p.m., the Capitol stage will light up for the Lip Sync Battle: Soundtrack Showdown. Performers from local schools, nonprofits, and community organizations will rock the red carpet at the Service One Prosper Foundation’s fundraiser, a musical extravaganza whose proceeds will benefit Megan’s Mobile Grocery. Groups will lip-sync to their favorite movie soundtracks and rock the house with creatively choreographed performances, and the audience will get to vote their favorites to the top! Tickets can be purchased at capitolbg.org.
The Capitol, managed by WCPL (Warren County Public Library), is a fabulous venue for movies, library events, and community events. From free movies and library programs to productions by local groups and outside promoters, it’s a happening place!
