Safe Seats | Safe Kids Named 2026 Team of the Year… a Community Education program

Safe Seats | Safe Kids, a program of Community Education, provides free car seat checks, hands-on education, safety resources, and community outreach to help parents, grandparents, and caregivers keep their youngest passengers safe.

For many families, car seat safety can feel overwhelming. Questions about choosing the right seat, proper installation, harnessing, or when to transition to a booster are common. Safe Seats | Safe Kids provides a judgment-free environment where families can get answers, have their car seats checked by certified child passenger safety technicians, and leave feeling more confident.

That commitment to child passenger safety was recently recognized when Safe Seats | Safe Kids was named the 2026 Team of the Year through the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety’s Governor’s Occupant Protection Enforcement Awards. The honor reflects the dedication of Community Education and the Safe Seats | Safe Kids program to educating and supporting families throughout the community. The award isn’t the finish line, it’s motivation to keep reaching more families and providing education.

The program has several opportunities coming up for families. On September 12, Safe Seats | Safe Kids, partnered with Med Center Health, will host its second free car seat safety class for expectant parents. The class will help new parents learn about choosing, installing, and properly using a car seat before their baby arrives.

Then, on Saturday, September 26, from 1pm to 4pm, Safe Seats | Safe Kids will bring a FREE car seat check to Logan County at the Logan County Extension Office. Families can meet with certified child passenger safety technicians to have their seats checked, ask questions, and receive hands-on guidance. Whether you’ve recently purchased a seat, moved it to another vehicle, have questions about a booster, or simply want peace of mind, this event is a great opportunity to make sure your little passenger is riding as safely as possible.

Parents and caregivers don’t have to wait for a special event to have their car seat checked. Safe Seats | Safe Kids offers daily appointments in Warren and Butler counties with certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) who are eager to help. Families can schedule an appointment, get their questions answered, and receive personalized guidance in a comfortable, judgment-free environment.
