Most parents remember the day they installed their first car seat, the instructions spread across the driveway, YouTube pulled up on their phone, and still feeling like it’s just not right. This is a feeling many parents can relate to, and unfortunately, the car seat struggles don’t stop after the first install, nor do they end when the seat clicks into place. Car seat safety is an ongoing process as children grow, vehicles change, and safety guidelines evolve.
Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of injury for children, yet many injuries can be prevented with proper car seat use. Safe Seats | Safe Kids is a community-based child passenger safety program through Community Education Bowling Green-Warren County, in collaboration with Community Education Butler County. With support from our title sponsor, Flora Templeton Stuart, Attorney at Law, we provide free car seat education, hands-on seat checks, and one-on-one guidance to help families keep children safe at every stage.
Our services are delivered by certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians who work directly with caregivers, including parents, grandparents, babysitters, and anyone responsible for transporting a child, during scheduled appointments and community events. Rather than installing seats for families, technicians educate and guide caregivers through the process, empowering them with the knowledge and confidence to use their car seats correctly every day. When a caregiver pauses and says, “Okay, that makes sense now,” it’s a reminder that education and reassurance can make all the difference.
Throughout the year, our team can be found at events and expos, bringing car seat education directly to families where they already live, work, and gather. While Safe Seats | Safe Kids’ home base is in Warren County, we proudly offer services in Butler County as well, including an upcoming FREE Car Seat Check Event on April 18.
The next time you find yourself with directions spread across the driveway and YouTube pulled up on your phone, wondering if it’s really right, remember, you’re not alone. From infant seats to seat belts, Safe Seats | Safe Kids is here to help families feel confident at every stage. Families can schedule a free car seat check or learn more by visiting www.commed.us or calling 270-842-4281.
