Music & Movies Rock the Capitol

The Capitol is thrilled to be able to continue the strong tradition of the Winterfest concert series that was formerly coordinated by the Downtown Redevelopment Authority. With continued support from sponsor Flora Templeton Stewart, February’s Friday night concerts will feature fabulous music, and they’re free to attend. Similar to its Concerts in the Park summer counterpart now being managed by SKYPAC, the series aims to connect music lovers and community members while highlighting local talent, including the following:

Don't miss the great concerts during Winterfest 2026 at The Capitol.

•Friday, February 6 – Peter the Freshman – Rock out with Bowling Green’s premiere party band to kick off the Winterfest season! This energetic group will take you back in time with alt-rock, post-grunge popular hits of the ‘90s as well as sprinkling in a few favorites from the ‘80s and early 2000s.

•Friday, February 13 – Ernie Small Blues Band – A long-time local favorite, with the first iteration of the band performing in 1982, this band plays everything from blues and rock to jazzy standards.

•Friday, February 20 – Business of Misery – A tribute to the band Paramore, this band’s style blends pop-rock, alternative, new wave, and post-punk. The audience will love their emotive vocals, catchy hooks, and introspective lyrics exploring anxiety, identity, and modern life.

•Friday, February 27 – Bueler’s Day Off – Playing music from all genres, this popular local band plays pop and rock, familiar, singable covers that appeal to a broad range of musical tastes.

While all ages are welcome to Winterfest concerts at the Capitol, we have one musical event designed specifically to welcome teens and college students back for a second semester. Library Rocks is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, at 6:30pm: The Library Rocks FREE concert welcomes teens & college students (and youth of all ages!) back to school by opening up the Capitol for a night of music and community. Come fly your freak flag and find your people (and your new favorite local band)!

Make Sundays fun days at this month’s series of afternoon Craft Movies at the Capitol. The lights at these movie showings will be dimmed during the movies presented in this series, allowing folks to see better as they work on any hand-crafted projects they bring in. If you knit, crochet, or do any other type of art that you can work on while you watch, be sure to attend and connect with others who share your creative passion! Dates and movie descriptions are below. For movie titles, go to capitolbg.org/movies, since our public performance license does not allow us to share titles in print our outside our venue:
